Role Overview
The Field Sales Executive for ceramic tiles and sanitary ware is responsible for growing revenue and market presence across Nairobi’s building, renovation, and interior-finishing sector. Most working hours are spent in the field, identifying active and upcoming projects, meeting the people who influence material selection, and converting those conversations into confirmed supply orders. This role matters because it directly connects the company’s product range with contractors, developers, designers, and property owners who need reliable tiling and sanitary-ware solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily territory mapping to find live, upcoming, and pipeline construction, renovation, and estate-development projects.
- Build and maintain working relationships with property developers, civil contractors, site managers, architects, interior designers, and other project decision-makers.
- Visit construction sites, corporate offices, and design studios to present ceramic tile and sanitary-ware ranges, samples, catalogues, and technical product details.
- Review architectural plans, specifications, material quantities, and budget expectations so product recommendations fit the project’s actual needs.
- Prepare, submit, and explain formal price quotations and commercial supply proposals to prospective clients.
- Negotiate pricing and delivery terms within approved margins, then follow up on quotations until interest becomes a confirmed order.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across related building-material and interior-finishing lines to increase order value.
- Maintain activity records covering client meetings, site visits, quotations, conversion progress, competitor pricing, and market trends, while meeting or exceeding monthly and quarterly gross sales targets.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
- Two to five years of practical sales experience, preferably in ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, hardware, building materials, interior design finishes, or home furniture.
- Existing contacts with local contractors, property developers, architects, or interior designers would be an added advantage.
- Ability to understand and discuss product specifications, tile measurements, and sanitary-fixture requirements.
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, objection-handling, and closing skills.
- Confident verbal communication and professional presentation skills for dealing with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Willingness to spend significant working time travelling to field sites; a valid motorbike riding licence is an added advantage.
