Role Overview
This is a field-based community relations role with Tuishi, focused on connecting residents across the Coast Region to practical protection products such as Medical Cover, Last Expense Cover, and the In-kind Envelope. Day to day, you will be out in villages, markets, estates, and other community hubs, having real conversations with people so they understand how membership works and why it can protect their families during illness or loss. Your work is essential because it turns unfamiliar financial services into trusted, accessible tools that community members actually use when they need them most.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively register new members through one-on-one and group engagements in villages, estates, markets, hospitals, churches, and workplaces.
- Explain the purpose and benefits of Medical Cover, Last Expense Cover, and the In-kind Envelope in simple, relatable terms that suit different audiences.
- Guide members through the claims process and service activation steps, making sure they understand what information is needed and what happens next.
- Maintain contact with existing members to follow up on pending claims, upcoming premium renewal dates, and any service access questions.
- Expand Tuishi's visibility by building relationships with village elders, religious leaders, hospital managers, employer representatives, and market committees.
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records of every outreach activity, registration, and member interaction completed during the week.
- Identify common barriers to enrolment, such as misconceptions about pricing or payout terms, and address them clearly and honestly.
- Plan efficient daily routes and outreach schedules to maximise time spent in communities with the highest growth potential.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in field outreach, community mobilisation, sales, insurance, or a similar client-facing role; candidates with strong volunteer organising experience will also be considered.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak persuasively to both small groups and individual families.
- Self-motivated and disciplined enough to manage a daily field itinerary with limited supervision.
- Currently resident in Kenya's Coast Region, or genuinely prepared to relocate there for this position.
- Genuine care for community wellbeing and a desire to improve access to vital financial protection.
- Reliable means of getting around the region, whether a motorbike, bicycle, or dependable public transport connections.
- Solid literacy and numeracy skills, with a minimum of a secondary school certificate; an insurance or community development qualification is an added advantage.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili, with practical knowledge of any other local coastal languages considered beneficial.
