Job Description

Title: Field Collection Officer (44 Positions)

Compensation (Probation): Kshs. 15,300 Salary + Kshs. 15,300 Allowance

Role Purpose

We are seeking resilient and result-oriented Field Collection Officers to manage debt recovery operations across our regional hubs. This is a high-mobility role where you will be the primary link between the company and our clients in the field. Your mission is to ensure the health of the company’s credit portfolio by tracking overdue accounts, conducting physical site visits, and negotiating sustainable repayment plans. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who can navigate challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism while maintaining a firm focus on collection targets.

Key Deliverables

Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Monitor a dedicated portfolio of client accounts, prioritizing follow-ups based on the age and risk level of the debt.

  • Identify early indicators of potential default and implement preventive recovery strategies.

  • Report any high-risk or suspicious accounts to the supervisory team to mitigate fraud.

  • Track and locate clients who have become unresponsive or have changed their physical locations.

Field Operations & Recovery

  • Conduct daily visits to clients' residences or business premises to facilitate payment follow-ups and recovery.

  • Utilize phone calls and SMS reminders as part of a comprehensive pre-due and post-due follow-up strategy.

  • Negotiate with clients to understand non-payment hurdles and agree on realistic, structured repayment schedules.

  • Collect and document full or partial payments, ensuring all funds are handled and remitted according to company policy.

Reporting & Professional Standards

  • Maintain meticulous records of all client interactions, field visit outcomes, and payment commitments.

  • Submit accurate daily and weekly performance reports via mobile reporting tools and internal systems.

  • Uphold ethical collection practices, ensuring all interactions are respectful and compliant with financial regulations.

  • Safeguard assigned company assets, including motorcycles and mobile reporting devices.

Requirements & Competencies

Professional Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in any field (Business-related qualifications are a plus).

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in collections, credit control, or a field-based financial role.

  • Licensing: Must possess a valid A2 driving license (Motorcycle).

  • Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and proficiency in using mobile applications for data entry.

Functional Skills

  • Negotiation: Strong ability to handle conflict and reach mutually beneficial agreements with defaulting clients.

  • Mobility: Genuine willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region and work outdoors.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to speak local languages in the assigned area is a significant advantage.

  • Resilience: Ability to work independently and maintain high performance under the pressure of strict collection targets.
