Job Description

Role Overview

This position is accountable for the day-to-day management of finished goods warehousing and outbound distribution at the plant, ensuring that all feed, mineral, and animal health products are stored, accounted for, and dispatched with precision. You will coordinate the loading and delivery of orders to depots in Kisumu and Eldoret, the Nairobi Feeds Plant, distributors, farms, and one-time customers, while managing both company-owned and contracted transport. Your work directly supports production planning, customer turnaround times, and revenue protection through accurate inventories and damage-free, on-time deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all loading and offloading activities for feeds, minerals, and animal health products, enforcing set productivity targets and ensuring early starts to minimize vehicle turnaround time.
  • Maintain live inventory modules at the plant and depots, set and review Kanban levels, and communicate daily/weekly finished goods requirements to production teams for timely replenishment.
  • Issue products in SAP for interplant transfers and depot requisitions, approve reservations for packaging materials, and ensure all postings are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Lead daily work management meetings with warehouse and depot teams, conduct regular depot visits, and oversee timely invoice processing and complaint resolution for depot operations.
  • Ensure warehouse security at close of business, manage key control protocols, and adhere to scheduled maintenance for forklifts, pallet jacks, stackers, and company trucks.
  • Monitor product shelf life and enforce strict FIFO/FEFO practices to prevent expiries, damages, and market returns; manage damage reporting and return procedures.
  • Plan delivery schedules, approve delivery notes, allocate trucks, coordinate with weighbridge staff, and ensure OTIFEF fulfillment for all depot, plant, farm, and customer orders.
  • Reconcile daily stock counts across all warehouses and depots, maintain accurate documentation (tally sheets, PODs, dispatch summaries), and prepare monthly OTIFEF, KPI, fleet, and stock valuation reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field; professional certification in warehousing or distribution is an added advantage.
  • At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience supervising warehouse operations and distribution in a manufacturing, FMCG, or agricultural feeds environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP inventory and goods movement modules, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Kanban replenishment systems, managing daily cycle counts, and driving OTIFEF performance.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop warehouse staff while fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Understanding of ISO 22000 food safety standards, good warehousing practices, and root cause analysis for non-conformities and customer complaints.
  • Ability to manage both internal and third-party transport fleets, including tracking, route planning, and contract compliance.
