Job Description

Role Overview

This position keeps official travel safe, smooth, and uninterrupted by taking full responsibility for an assigned vehicle and the people it carries. Each day involves more than driving: you will plan and log trips, check the vehicle before departure, keep it spotless and mechanically sound, and respond quickly to any road incident. Your reliability directly supports the team’s ability to reach their destinations and carry out their work without avoidable delays or safety risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the assigned vehicle only for officially authorised journeys, following approved routes and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date work tickets for each vehicle under your care, recording trips, mileage, and any notable events.
  • Clean the assigned motor vehicle regularly to keep it presentable and in a hygienic condition for all passengers.
  • Monitor the vehicle’s mechanical health and carry out basic checks to detect common faults before they become serious.
  • Ensure the security and safety of passengers and the vehicle at all times, both while on the road and when parked or off duty.
  • Comply strictly with all traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices on every trip.
  • Report accidents, breakdowns, or any security-related incidents to the police and/or the office immediately after they occur.
  • Identify and report suspected mechanical issues to the appropriate team so that repairs and servicing can be arranged promptly.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Valid driving licence classes D1 and D2, with no current endorsements or pending violations.
  • KCSE mean grade D+ (Plus) or its recognised equivalent.
  • At least two years of proven driving experience in a professional or similar capacity.
  • Successful completion of a formal driver suitability test.
  • A valid First Aid certificate, enabling you to respond appropriately in the event of an accident or medical emergency.
  • Basic computer proficiency for updating digital work tickets, logs, and related records.
