Role Overview

As an outpatient physician at AAR Healthcare Kenya, you will be the first point of medical contact for patients seeking prompt, accurate and compassionate care. Day to day, you will conduct consultations, make clinical decisions, and manage treatment pathways while keeping each patient's experience comfortable, informed, and supported. Your work is central to maintaining the clinic's clinical reputation, operational efficiency, and high standards of patient-centred service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform focused and thorough patient assessments, including clinical history, physical examination, and appropriate diagnostic investigations, to reach accurate and timely diagnoses.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment plans in line with national health protocols, internal standard treatment guidelines, and current evidence-based medicine.
• Continually monitor patients' responses to treatment, adjusting prescriptions, referrals, or follow-up schedules as their clinical condition requires.
• Maintain clear, confidential and up-to-date electronic medical records for every consultation, ensuring data integrity and readiness for periodic clinical audit reviews.
• Provide guidance on preventive care, lifestyle modification, and chronic disease management, proactively promoting long-term wellness in every patient interaction.
• Communicate diagnosis and treatment options in an understandable, empathetic manner, giving patients time to ask questions and express concerns before leaving.
• Coordinate with nursing, laboratory, pharmacy and administrative colleagues to ensure smooth patient flow and consistent adherence to the organisation's service standards.
• Participate in internal quality assurance, peer review sessions and team meetings, suggesting practical improvements that strengthen both clinical governance and patient experience.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or MBBS) from a recognised university.
• Full registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), including a valid and current practising licence.
• At least two years of active clinical practice post-internship, ideally within an outpatient or acute care environment.
• Strong clinical reasoning across common adult and paediatric presentations, with the ability to recognise when to stabilise, treat, or refer.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and active listening skills, underpinned by genuine empathy and cultural sensitivity.
• Demonstrated self-discipline, ethical judgement and emotional resilience when handling high patient volumes or challenging cases.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and a commitment to maintaining accurate, audit-ready documentation.
