Data Analyst

Role Overview

This position sits at the intersection of data analysis and agricultural production, requiring daily hands-on work with SQL, Excel, and Smartsheet to clean, query, and interpret business data. You will generate dashboards and management reports that guide operational decisions, while also ensuring data integrity and compliance with phytosanitary and safety protocols. By collaborating with internal teams and external R&D partners, your analysis directly supports process optimisation and helps maintain a high standard of quality across the production lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Query and manipulate data using SQL, Excel, and Smartsheet to support routine and ad hoc analytical requests.
• Build and maintain visual dashboards and recurring reports for management, highlighting trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand business needs, gather requirements, and translate them into repeatable analytical solutions.
• Perform data validation, source verification, and documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency in all outputs.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives with data-driven recommendations.
• Train end-users on data tools, dashboards, and report interpretation to promote self-service analytics across the site.
• Monitor and ensure full compliance with phytosanitary, hygiene, and health & safety policies in every aspect of data handling and reporting.
• Take on additional analytical tasks or projects as directed by management to meet evolving business needs.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated working experience with SQL for database queries, Microsoft Excel (including advanced formulas and pivots), and Smartsheet for collaborative data management.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• High level of integrity and intellectual honesty when handling sensitive or proprietary data.
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is considered a plus.
