Role Overview
The EDI Analyst keeps business documents moving accurately between our systems and those of our customers and vendors. Day to day, that means building and maintaining the connections, data mappings, and transformation scripts that turn incoming files into usable data and outgoing data into the exact format each trading partner expects — then jumping in quickly when a transmission fails, a field lands in the wrong place, or a parse error stalls a document. This work matters because orders, invoices, and shipping notices only reach the people who act on them when the integration underneath them is reliable, and because customers judge the whole platform on how smoothly their connections run.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and maintain EDI connections and integrations for new and existing trading partners.
- Map and transform inbound and outbound data segments so they match the business rules and the formats required on each side of the exchange.
- Write, debug, and maintain scripts for data transformation and processing, primarily in Python, with Lua used for certain transformation and integration routines.
- Establish and troubleshoot transport connections, including SFTP and AS2, diagnosing credential, certificate, and handshake problems.
- Work with JSON data structures and document templates when defining, validating, and reshaping payloads.
- Test mappings, connections, and end-to-end flows before changes go live, and re-test after configuration updates.
- Investigate integration and data-mapping issues reported by customers, vendors, or internal teams, tracing failures back to their root cause and resolving them.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers and vendors — gathering and clarifying integration requirements, confirming what will be implemented, and explaining what is needed from their side.
- Document mappings, configurations, and integration processes so that connections can be supported, audited, and extended by others.
- Collaborate with the wider technical team on both new builds and ongoing maintenance of existing EDI connections.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A working understanding of EDI concepts, including how document segments and elements relate to real business transactions.
- Good Python scripting skills, with the ability to write, debug, and maintain scripts that transform and process data.
- Comfort working with JSON and other structured data formats.
- The ability to map and transform data between differing segments, formats, and layouts.
- Basic knowledge of SFTP and AS2 connections, including how they are configured and how failures are diagnosed.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when tracing an issue through multiple systems and formats.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to speak professionally and directly with customers and vendors.
- The ability to work independently on assigned work while contributing effectively within a technical team.
- A willingness to learn Lua scripting; candidates with strong Python skills but no Lua background are encouraged to apply, since Lua can be picked up on the job.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior exposure to EDI platforms, data integration, APIs, or system integrations.
- Familiarity with common EDI business documents such as Purchase Orders, Invoices, or ASNs.
- Previous experience working alongside customers or vendors to define and deliver technical requirements and integrations.
