Role Overview

This role keeps the kitchen running smoothly by turning set menus and recipes into consistent, well-presented meals for staff and visitors. The cook works alongside chefs and kitchen attendants during prep, service, and cleanup, making sure every plate leaves the pass on time and meets quality and hygiene expectations. Because the position touches food safety, stock rotation, and guest-facing service, it directly affects daily dining satisfaction and the kitchen’s operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook assigned dishes by following approved recipes, portion guides, and service schedules.
• Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and condition before use, and set aside anything that does not meet standards.
• Plate food consistently so it looks appetising and reaches diners at the correct temperature.
• Work with kitchen colleagues and support the serving of meals to staff and guests when service requires it.
• Pitch in with chopping, measuring, and station preparation when chefs or attendants need an extra hand.
• Take in deliveries, place items in correct storage, and rotate stock so older products are used first and waste is reduced.
• Run, clean, and carry out basic upkeep on kitchen equipment in line with safety guidance.
• Keep to strict cleanliness, safe food handling, and personal hygiene rules throughout every shift.
• Stay informed about current culinary ideas and techniques to help improve everyday dining experiences.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A certificate-level qualification in Hotel Management, Food Production, or a recognised equivalent.
• At least one year of practical experience in a comparable culinary position.
• Working knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene rules, and sanitation procedures.
• Confidence operating and caring for commercial kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, mixers, slicers, and refrigeration units.
• Strong customer service manner and the ability to communicate well with colleagues, servers, and diners.
• A current Certificate of Good Conduct.
