Role Overview
You will take charge of the construction department's most complex industrial builds, steering assignments from early feasibility through final delivery while ensuring deadlines, budgets, and safety standards are consistently met. As a senior leader, you will coordinate internal crews and outside contractors, mentor supervisors, and serve as a key escalation point for any construction-related issue. Your work directly supports a fast-growing aquaculture business whose operations depend on reliable, high-quality facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the full lifecycle of assigned projects, including initial scoping, resource planning, budget tracking, on-site supervision, and formal handover.
- Supervise and develop construction supervisors and field crews, promoting clear accountability and professional growth across the department.
- Design and enforce a proactive safety culture, conducting routine audits and ensuring every site complies with regulatory requirements.
- Set measurable quality benchmarks, inspect ongoing work against specifications, and implement corrective actions when standards slip.
- Act as the principal liaison for construction matters, aligning with the Head of Department before communicating updates to senior leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Build and maintain master schedules, adjusting sequences and resources to keep multiple projects moving without unnecessary downtime.
- Allocate personnel, equipment, and materials where they create the most value, reporting anticipated needs and risks to the Head of Department.
- Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, progress logs, change orders, and financial documentation, so every decision is traceable.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification or professional certification is strongly preferred.
- At least ten years of experience in complex industrial construction, with proven knowledge of advanced building methods, materials, and current safety regulations.
- Track record of leading diverse teams, fostering cooperation between in-house staff and subcontractors, and driving a positive, productive work environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable briefing executives and external audiences with clarity and confidence.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, capable of anticipating issues, weighing risk, and executing practical solutions under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational skill, able to juggle multiple large-scale initiatives in a fast-paced environment without losing attention to detail.
- Expertise in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and construction specifications, with the ability to translate them into clear field directives.
