Job Description

Role Overview

Our client, an established manufacturing operation in Mlolongo, is looking for a Systems & Infrastructure Officer to take ownership of the site's hardware, servers, and network backbone. On a typical day, you will keep LAN/WAN connectivity stable, support production-critical systems such as ERP, SCADA, and IoT devices, and respond to technical faults from both office and factory-floor teams. This role matters because any break in infrastructure directly affects manufacturing output, so your ability to prevent and resolve downtime is essential to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, desktop workstations, printers, and other peripheral equipment across the facility.
  • Administer LAN/WAN networks, including routers, switches, VLANs, VPN links, and firewall rules to ensure stable connectivity.
  • Monitor bandwidth consumption and internet availability, diagnosing and resolving network faults before they disrupt plant operations.
  • Keep accurate documentation of hardware inventory, software licenses, network diagrams, and system configurations.
  • Support shop-floor production technologies, including ERP modules, SCADA systems, IoT sensors, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Enforce endpoint security by applying firmware updates, antivirus definitions, system hardening, and proper management of Active Directory accounts and access rights.
  • Run scheduled data backups, perform restoration tests, and maintain disaster recovery procedures to safeguard business-critical information.
  • Provide Tier-1 and Tier-2 technical support to end users in both administrative and production areas, while coordinating with ISPs, hardware vendors, and external service providers on repairs and SLAs.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure setup, network administration, or systems engineering.
  • Direct experience within a manufacturing, logistics, engineering, or industrial environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts: LAN/WAN, routing, subnets, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Practical knowledge of server operating systems, Active Directory, network storage, and virtualized environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex hardware, network, and software issues under tight production deadlines.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Mlolongo, Machakos County, with a monthly salary of KSh 40,000 to KSh 70,000 depending on experience. Candidates residing in or around Mlolongo, Syokimau, or Athi River are preferred. You will have the chance to work directly in an industrial setting where your technical choices have a tangible impact on production continuity and overall business performance.
