Job Description

Role Overview

This Communications Officer position sits within the Safal MRM Foundation and works directly alongside the Head of Foundation to shape public messaging, media relationships, and stakeholder engagement. Day to day, you will turn field-level program outcomes into compelling narratives, manage content across digital and print channels, and coordinate the Foundation’s PR and event activities. Your work matters because it helps the Foundation build trust, attract donor support, and demonstrate the real-world impact of its initiatives to partners and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead the implementation of the Foundation’s overall communication strategy, ensuring all messaging aligns with organisational priorities.
  • Partner with the Foundation Head to produce key external materials such as annual reports, presentations, brochures, and other promotional assets.
  • Capture, write, and consolidate impact stories from programmes, translating results into engaging narratives for different audiences.
  • Manage and refresh content for social media channels, including calendars, post creation, and regional platform coordination.
  • Support donor recognition and stewardship efforts, helping to design programmes that acknowledge both corporate and individual contributors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Foundation events end to end, including vendor management, logistics, and on-the-day delivery.
  • Track and analyse communication performance across channels, using data and insights to refine messaging and approach.
  • Coordinate press and public relations activities, including media outreach, relationship building, and supporting the Foundation’s public image.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline; a master’s degree or relevant certification is an added advantage.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations, or a comparable role, with a proven record of launching and executing communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Superior writing, editing, and speaking skills, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences across formats such as reports, press releases, social posts, and presentations.
  • Strong storytelling instincts and the creativity to translate complex programme data into clear, human-centred content.
  • Working proficiency with digital communication tools including social media platforms, content management systems, email marketing software, and analytics dashboards.
  • A solid grasp of media relations, including drafting press materials, pitching to journalists, and monitoring coverage, ideally supported by an existing contact network.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with the composure to anticipate issues and adjust communication plans under changing circumstances.
  • Proven collaboration skills, comfortable working across functions and managing relationships with internal teams, external partners, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational discipline, able to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail in a busy environment.
  • Adaptability, with a calm and professional approach when handling urgent requests, sensitive situations, or last-minute changes.
