Role Overview
This is a hands-on cleaning position within a busy hospitality setting, where the state of the space is part of the guest experience every single day. You will take ownership of keeping front-of-house and back-of-house areas hygienic, presentable, and safe across the full shift, working around service periods so that cleaning never gets in the way of operations. The person in this role is the reason the venue passes inspections, smells fresh, and looks cared for — and that reliability matters as much as speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise kitchen, dining, and service areas to a consistently high standard, including work surfaces, prep stations, and equipment exteriors.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain all floor areas, paying attention to corners, under fixtures, and high-traffic zones.
- Clean and restock restrooms throughout the shift, checking for hygiene supplies and reporting shortages.
- Collect, sort, and remove waste and recycling, keeping bins and disposal areas clean and odour-free.
- Carry out scheduled deep-cleaning tasks such as degreasing, wall and vent wiping, and equipment detailing.
- Follow correct dilution, storage, and handling procedures for cleaning chemicals, including safe use around food areas.
- Report damage, pest sightings, or maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly rather than working around them.
- Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff so that cleaning activity fits around service without disruption.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 2–3 years of hands-on cleaning experience in a professional setting.
- Prior exposure to a café, restaurant, hotel, or comparable hospitality environment, where hygiene standards and pace are high.
- Strong eye for detail when it comes to cleanliness and hygiene — noticing what others walk past.
- Dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated, able to keep standards up without constant supervision.
- Solid time management and organisational skills to work through a task list within a set shift.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Available and willing to work weekends and public holidays as part of the roster.
