Job Role: Canter Truck Driver
Nature of Job: Full‑time
Salary: KES 25,000 per month
Job Location: Kiambu

Job Purpose

We are seeking a reliable Canter Truck Driver to operate a 6‑wheel Canter truck for daily distribution activities. The role involves safe and timely delivery of goods, accurate documentation, and ensuring the vehicle remains in good condition at all times.

Your Role

  • Safely and efficiently drive the assigned Canter truck for daily deliveries.

  • Ensure goods are delivered on time, in full, and in good condition.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operate a 6‑wheel Canter truck for daily distribution to customers, distributors, and retail outlets.

  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods as per the schedule.

  • Verify loaded goods against delivery notes/invoices before departure and confirm quantities upon delivery.

  • Assist in loading and off‑loading, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or loss.

  • Plan and follow optimal routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing fuel use.

  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections (oil, brakes, tires, lights, fuel levels) and report defects immediately.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the truck.

  • Keep and update trip logs, mileage records, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation.

  • Collect proof of delivery (signed delivery notes) and return all documents promptly.

  • Handle basic troubleshooting of minor mechanical issues and coordinate major repairs with management.

  • Adhere strictly to traffic laws, company policies, and safety standards.

  • Ensure cargo is properly secured to prevent movement or damage during transit.

  • Report accidents, delays, damages, or incidents to the supervisor immediately.

  • Support stock reconciliation by ensuring delivered quantities match dispatch records.

  • Interact with customers, clients, and team members in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Safeguard company assets (vehicle, fuel, and goods).

  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and use of protective gear.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid driving license (Class BCE or relevant category).

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience driving Canter trucks.

  • Proven experience operating 6‑wheel trucks is mandatory.

  • Experience in FMCG distribution is an added advantage.

  • Good knowledge of road safety regulations and routes within Kiambu and surrounding areas.

  • Physically fit and able to handle loading and off‑loading tasks.

  • Strong responsibility, reliability, and integrity.
