Job Description

Role Overview

This is a hands-on branch leadership position within a fashion retail business in Nanyuki. You will be responsible for the store from opening to closing, translating monthly sales targets into daily routines that the whole team understands and works toward. Beyond supervising staff and stock, you will act as the on-ground decision-maker for service issues, display standards, and performance gaps, directly influencing whether the branch meets its revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, floor staffing, cash handling discipline, and maintenance of a clean, organised sales environment.
  • Set daily and weekly sales expectations with store associates, tracking branch performance against monthly targets and adjusting staff focus when results lag.
  • Use sales records and customer traffic patterns to identify slow-moving products, popular ranges, and promotion opportunities that can improve conversion rates.
  • Allocate duties fairly among team members, supervise their output, and conduct short coaching sessions aimed at improving sales technique and product knowledge.
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards across the shop floor, ensuring displays are neat, correctly priced, and replenished before stock runs out.
  • Manage stock receipts, transfers, and return documentation while monitoring inventory levels to avoid both shortages and costly overstocking.
  • Organise periodic stock counts, reconcile physical stock with system records, and investigate any unexplained losses or discrepancies.
  • Resolve customer complaints quickly and professionally, protecting the store’s reputation and encouraging repeat visits through consistent service quality.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Retail Management, or an equivalent relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of retail management experience, with a clear preference for candidates who have worked in fashion or apparel stores.
  • Proven success in leading retail teams toward commission-based sales targets and measured store KPIs.
  • Practical knowledge of inventory reconciliation, stock-taking procedures, and end-of-day sales documentation.
  • Strong people management skills, including the ability to motivate a team, handle staff performance issues, and resolve conflict on the shop floor.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and translate it into immediate operational changes.
  • Willingness to work full time and on-site in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a monthly salary position starting at KSh 30,000, complemented by performance-based commissions for those who can push the store beyond its sales goals. Joining this retail business gives you the opportunity to manage a full branch operation independently, sharpen your commercial decision-making, and build a strong reputation within the Nanyuki market. It is an ideal role for a retail professional ready to take responsibility and see tangible rewards from team performance.
