Job Description

Role Overview

This is a structured industrial attachment placement designed for degree and diploma students who must complete a practical learning period in a working organisation as part of their course requirements. You will be embedded within a seed company environment, gaining day-to-day exposure to how agricultural knowledge and business operations combine. Your contribution matters because the organisation views attachments as a two-way bridge: you bring fresh perspective and academic grounding, while the company helps shape future industry-ready professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting assigned departmental teams in routine operations, whether in field activities, seed handling, laboratory work, or clerical processes depending on your study discipline.
  • Collecting, recording, and organising data under the guidance of a supervisor to support accurate reporting and decision-making.
  • Observing and participating in quality control checks to learn how standards are maintained across the seed production cycle.
  • Assisting in preparing documentation, summaries, or presentations that communicate findings or project progress to senior staff.
  • Following workplace safety protocols and standard operating procedures while handling tools, materials, or equipment relevant to your placement area.
  • Attending learning sessions, team meetings, and briefings to understand how different functions interact within the organisation.
  • Completing any assigned project work that relates to your academic programme and contributes meaningfully to the host department.
  • Providing a final attachment report or feedback at the end of the placement as required by your institution and supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a recognised degree or diploma programme with an element of industrial attachment or practical training.
  • Relevant fields of study may include agriculture, agronomy, seed science, agribusiness, plant breeding, agricultural extension, or other closely related disciplines.
  • Should have completed at least one or two years of academic coursework prior to the attachment period, as applicable to your institution's requirements.
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and work collaboratively with professionals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to record observations clearly.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and willingness to work under practical field or office conditions.
  • Must be able to produce the necessary academic documentation, such as an introduction letter from the institution, when requested by the organisation.

What We Offer / Why Join

This attachment gives you the chance to experience a real working environment in the seed and agriculture industry, helping you connect theoretical knowledge with practical demands. You will receive supervision, mentoring, and constructive feedback from experienced professionals committed to developing emerging talent. The organisation is an equal opportunity employer and values the unique contributions that students from different backgrounds and institutions bring to the workplace. By taking part, you also join a broader partnership between your institution and the company, contributing to a shared goal of producing capable graduates ready for industry.
