Swahilipot Hub Foundation is a non-profit organisation that meaningfully engages and empowers youth aged 18 to 35, enabling them to unleash their full potential. Based in Mombasa, Kenya, it is regulated by the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya. In 2016, Mahmoud Noor (alias Mentor001) founded Swahilipot Hub with support from the National Museums of Kenya, SEACOM, ICT Authority, and Cisco — opening a space where coastal youth could explore technology, innovation, and creative talent. What began as a community-based organisation focused on technology and innovation has grown into an NGO with diverse program areas and reach across East Africa. View more View less

Job Description

Role Overview

This attachment program places you directly into the daily operations of Swahilipot Hub, a coastal innovation community. You will support ongoing tech and creative projects, collaborate with mentors on real client work, and help maintain the hub’s collaborative workspace. Your contribution matters because it allows the hub to scale its impact while you build the hands-on skills needed to launch a career in Kenya’s digital economy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in organising and facilitating community events, workshops, and hackathons hosted at the hub.
  • Contribute to content creation for social media, blog posts, and newsletters to amplify the hub’s visibility.
  • Support project teams with research, data collection, and documentation for client assignments or internal initiatives.
  • Help manage coworking space logistics, including visitor check-ins, equipment inventory, and room setup.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and feedback sessions to track progress on assigned tasks.
  • Provide basic technical support to hub members, such as troubleshooting Wi-Fi or assisting with presentation tools.
  • Draft summary reports and presentations for internal review after key events or project milestones.
  • Engage with visiting professionals during mentorship sessions and capture key insights for the knowledge base.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a diploma or degree program in ICT, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in innovation, technology, or entrepreneurship through coursework or extracurricular activities.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while also collaborating in a team environment.
  • Comfortable learning new software tools quickly (no prior coding required, but curiosity matters).
  • Willingness to commit to the full program duration (7 September – 27 November 2026) without interruption.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a structured, cohort-based attachment that pairs you with industry professionals for real mentorship. You will leave with a portfolio of tangible outputs, a network of peers and mentors, and a certificate of completion recognised within the hub’s ecosystem.
