Role Overview
This position is centred on making MICASSO the finishing material of choice in Kenya’s residential, commercial, hospitality and institutional construction projects. You will act as the company’s primary ambassador to architects, quantity surveyors, interior designers and developers, embedding our tiles and surfaces into project specifications from the earliest design stage. Your daily work involves building a trusted professional network, tracking projects as they move from concept to procurement, and collaborating closely with the sales team to convert specifications into concrete purchase orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain lasting relationships with architects, quantity surveyors, interior designers, developers, contractors and project consultants who influence material selection across Kenya.
- Identify and prioritise upcoming construction projects, then engage design teams during specification and tendering phases to secure MICASSO products within Bills of Quantities, material schedules and design documentation.
- Maintain a live project pipeline database, recording project names, stakeholders, locations, estimated tile requirements, specified products, competitor brands, procurement timelines and projected order values.
- Deliver product presentations, technical briefings and design support to professional practices, supplying samples, catalogues and technical documentation, and advising on formats, finishes, colours and textures.
- Develop and manage approved engagement programmes with professional firms, ensuring all coordination follows company policy, legal requirements and ethical business standards.
- Represent MICASSO at industry events and professional body activities, including engagements with the Architectural Association of Kenya, the Institution of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya and the Interior Design Society of Kenya, to raise brand visibility.
- Track competitor activity and market trends, monitoring which brands are being specified and identifying opportunities to reposition MICASSO in active projects.
- Support the sales team through the conversion process, introducing relevant stakeholders, assisting with project information for quotations, and addressing specification changes or competitor substitution before orders are placed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture, quantity surveying, interior design, civil engineering, construction management, building science or a closely related built-environment discipline.
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in Kenya’s architecture, construction, building materials, interior design or project sales environment, with a proven ability to work alongside architects, QSs, designers, developers and contractors.
- Demonstrated experience in building materials, particularly tiles, ceramics, sanitaryware or interior surfaces, is strongly preferred, as is a background in specification-driven sales or business development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive relationships, handle objections and maintain a professional image in varied settings.
- Commercial acumen, project intelligence gathering, and the ability to estimate project potential, prioritise opportunities and forecast conversion probability.
- Excellent organisational skills for maintaining CRM records, preparing weekly and monthly pipeline reports, and tracking multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel across Kenya for client meetings, site visits, industry events and professional networking functions.
