Role Overview
This role combines daily accounting operations with first-line IT support at an established firm in Industrial Area, Nairobi. You will spend your time processing financial transactions, reconciling ledgers, and keeping ERP data accurate, while also stepping in to resolve routine hardware, software, and network issues for colleagues. The position matters because it keeps both the finance function and office technology running smoothly without requiring a separate IT hire.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and post daily vouchers, invoices, petty cash payments, and expense receipts across the appropriate ledgers.
- Reconcile customer accounts, chase overdue invoices, and prepare supplier payments according to the monthly schedule.
- Enter journal entries and transaction data into the ERP system, making sure every record matches supporting documentation.
- Support senior accountants with bank reconciliations, stock counts, and monthly or periodic financial reports.
- Provide on-the-spot technical assistance to staff for desktop PCs, printers, business applications, and local network connectivity.
- Install and update operating systems, accounting tools, and business software while documenting changes.
- Diagnose data-entry errors or system glitches inside the ERP, escalating unresolved issues to external IT vendors.
- Maintain organised physical and electronic filing systems, including data backups, to protect sensitive financial records.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least three years of practical, combined experience in accounting and basic IT support; a purely finance-only or IT-only background will not be sufficient.
- Sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable processes, and core financial controls.
- Hands-on proficiency with accounting or ERP software and advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose common hardware faults, software errors, user login problems, and simple network connection issues.
- High numerical accuracy and a meticulous approach to data entry, reconciliations, and document handling.
- Proven discretion when managing confidential financial data and a clear communication style for helping colleagues and external contacts.
