Job Description

Role Overview

You will join the finance team as a hands-on accounting support professional, taking ownership of daily cash movements, reconciliations, and payment processing across the organisation. Your work will keep the general ledger accurate, support member withdrawals and supplier payments, and ensure that stock and financial records are always audit-ready. By identifying discrepancies early and maintaining clean documentation, you will directly contribute to transparent and efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Post member remittances to individual accounts daily and ensure the cash book reflects every transaction before bank statement reconciliation.
  • Prepare local purchase orders and review them against approved budgets and procurement guidelines.
  • Reconcile cash books with bank statements, investigate outstanding items, and follow up on unresolved differences with the responsible departments.
  • Manage the organisation’s journals and ledgers, posting sorted financial documents to the correct accounts and ensuring proper coding.
  • Process payments accurately and on time, including preparing cheques, payment vouchers, member refunds, and related deductions.
  • Handle petty cash requisitions, issuance, and postings, then verify the balance against supporting receipts.
  • Maintain and update stock records, carry out physical stock counts, perform regular stock reconciliations, and monitor all stock transactions.
  • Scan, file, and organise invoices through the electronic document management system while assisting with liquidity reports and member statements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum CPA II / CIFA II, a Diploma in Accountancy, Finance, or Banking, or a recognised degree in a related field. CPA/CIFA finalists will also be considered.
  • At least three years of accounting experience, ideally in a financial institution, SACCO, or accounting firm, with hands-on exposure to reconciliations and ledgers.
  • KCSE mean grade C (plain), with at least C plain in Mathematics and English.
  • Age 24 years and above to match the level of responsibility and independent judgment required.
  • Strong multitasking ability while maintaining close attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Analytical mindset with the persistence to trace reconciliation errors back to their original source.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for liaising with members, departments, and senior finance staff.
  • Demonstrated integrity, honesty, transparency, and the ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
