Monthly Salary: Kshs. 60,000

Organizational Mandate

We are looking for a rigorous and highly qualified Accountant to oversee the financial integrity of our operations based near the Airport/Mombasa Road area. The primary objective of this role is to maintain absolute accuracy in our financial records while ensuring 100% compliance with both International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Kenyan statutory requirements. You will serve as the financial guardian of the organization, providing management with the data-driven insights necessary for strategic decision-making and ensuring the firm remains in good standing with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements, including the Income Statement (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement.

  • Ensure all reporting cycles are executed in strict accordance with IFRS and GAAP frameworks.

  • Analyze variances and financial trends to provide management with actionable insights regarding profitability and operational costs.

Ledger Management & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain the General Ledger using meticulous double-entry accounting principles to ensure all entries are balanced.

  • Track and classify all financial transactions, ranging from complex sales revenue to daily operational expenses and long-term asset depreciation.

  • Oversee the accuracy of subsidiary ledgers and ensure they are integrated seamlessly into the main accounting system.

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Lead the preparation and timely filing of all KRA statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, and Corporate Tax.

  • Keep the organization informed of any changes in Kenyan tax legislation or finance acts to prevent penalties.

  • Manage the processing of other statutory obligations such as NSSF, NHIF, and Housing Levy within set deadlines.

Audit Coordination & Internal Controls

  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, preparing all necessary schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

  • Implement and monitor robust internal control systems designed to mitigate financial risk and prevent fraudulent activity.

  • Execute regular bank and ledger account reconciliations to ensure internal data perfectly matches bank positions and supplier statements.

Requirements & Competencies

Professional Background

  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.

  • Certification: Full professional certification such as CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent recognized body.

  • Experience: A minimum of 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience in a structured corporate environment.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of IFRS/GAAP and a solid grasp of the Kenyan tax landscape.

Technical Proficiency

  • Software: Expert proficiency in accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or robust ERP software.

  • Tools: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables, and complex financial modeling).

  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex data and communicate financial terms to non-financial stakeholders.

Incentives & Strategic Value

  • Competitive Pay: A monthly gross salary of Kshs. 60,000.

  • Prime Location: Conveniently located for professionals living along Mombasa Road or the Airport environs.

  • Career Advancement: High-level exposure to statutory management and financial strategy in a growing industry.

If you possess the required CPA (K) certification and have a track record of excellence in financial management, please submit your updated CV for the "Accountant - Mombasa Road" position. Ensure your experience with KRA filings and IFRS reporting is clearly detailed.
