Job Title

Lead, Energy & Infrastructure – Commercial Banking

Purpose

To lead the Energy & Infrastructure client franchise within Commercial Banking by developing deep sector expertise, growing a portfolio of commercial clients, and driving sustainable revenue growth while maintaining sound risk management practices. The role is responsible for originating and coordinating the delivery of client-centric banking solutions, leveraging internal and external relationships to create value for clients and the bank. Acting as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders, the incumbent will provide strategic sector insights, identify growth opportunities, and coordinate the execution of the Energy & Infrastructure strategy across multiple sectors within Commercial Banking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate, structure, and execute client-centric banking solutions by coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, acting as a strategic advisor and primary point of engagement for the bank.
  • Drive portfolio growth, revenue generation, wallet share expansion, and new business acquisition while ensuring strong client retention and exceptional client experience.
  • Maintain effective risk management practices as the first line of defence, ensuring compliance with the bank’s risk appetite, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and influence deal teams and stakeholders to deliver complex transactions, negotiate commercial outcomes, and execute sector strategies across multiple sub-sectors within Energy & Infrastructure.
  • Represent the bank in industry forums and stakeholder engagements, building the bank’s profile, strengthening market networks, and identifying emerging sector opportunities.

Qualifications

Type of Qualification: First Degree
Field of Study: Business Commerce, Finance or related field.

Experience

  • 8-10 years total experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of senior banking experience, 5 years of which are in an energy and infrastructure relevant sector and industry engagement experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing small teams of up to 5; leadership experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the Energy & Infrastructure sector in Kenya, including market dynamics, industry trends, regulatory developments, and the competitive landscape, and translate these insights into client opportunities and growth strategies.
