Job Description

Job Overview:
A school in Nakuru is seeking a dedicated P1 Teacher to deliver child-centered lessons under the CBC framework. The teacher will manage learner progress, create interactive lesson plans, and support holistic development while collaborating with colleagues and engaging parents effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning Delivery

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in line with CBC for P1 learners

  • Use interactive and varied teaching methods to cater to different learning styles

  • Foster critical thinking, creativity, and independence among learners

  • Adapt teaching approaches based on learner progress and feedback

Learner Assessment and Portfolio Management

  • Maintain detailed learner portfolios documenting progress and strengths

  • Conduct continuous assessments and provide constructive feedback

  • Prepare reports and communicate learner progress to parents/guardians

  • Identify learning gaps and implement support strategies

Curriculum Support and Resource Development

  • Develop and organize teaching and learning materials

  • Integrate educational technology and creative resources

  • Align classroom activities with CBC competencies including literacy, numeracy, life skills, and values

Classroom Management and Environment

  • Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom

  • Encourage positive behavior, social skills, and learner responsibility

  • Establish routines that promote independence

Mentorship and Learner Development

  • Guide learners in teamwork, resilience, and communication skills

  • Identify talents and provide opportunities for exploration and growth

  • Support learners’ emotional and social well-being

Collaboration and Professional Growth

  • Work with fellow teachers and school leadership to improve teaching practices

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development

  • Contribute to school initiatives and events that promote a positive learning culture

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians about learner progress

  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and school community events

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching and learning

Key Requirements:

  • Diploma in Education (Early Childhood/Primary Education preferred)

  • 1–2 years’ experience teaching under the CBC framework

  • Strong understanding of child development and competency-based learning

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning needs

  • Creative, patient, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching

  • Committed to continuous professional development
