Head Teacher
Reporting to the Director, the Head Teacher will be responsible for leadership, supervisory and management of the school from Kindergarten to Junior Secondary. He/she will be responsible for driving the school growth initiatives and new markets. The candidate will define the responsibilities and accountability of staff members and oversee the plans for interpreting the school curriculum.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of teaching approaches, methodologies and schemes of work
- Set targets and goals for school staff through a participative process
- Provide regular feedback to colleagues in a way that recognizes good practice and supports their progress against professional and performance management objectives
- Monitor coverage of the syllabus, quality of teaching and effectiveness of learning outcomes
- Ensure teachers have all necessary working resources required in undertaking their responsibilities
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of reports, records, lists, and other documents required or appropriate effective school management and maintain academic and other school records
- Maintain high level of discipline in the school for both teachers and students
- Building effective relationships with parents, education partners and external stakeholders.
- Guide and train teachers on various activities and programs through coaching and mentoring
- Provide leadership in guiding the various co-curricular activities and school-based events
- Orient and assists new recruited teachers to settle in the school as quickly as possible
- Responsible for teaching their respective class or subjects in line with school syllabus
- Maintain a safe and caring environment that fosters academic excellence as well as spiritual and physical wellbeing of pupils.
- Ensure prudent management and use of resources in the schools.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Masters or Bachelors of Education or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 5 years relevant working experience in a school, 3 years of which should have been in a leadership position
- Demonstrate proven track record in educational leadership including school administration, classroom instruction, lesson plans, student assessment and staff development.
- Good mastery of curriculum planning and monitoring skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enables open communication with parents, teachers and learners.
- A self-motivated, energetic person who enjoys working in a busy and dynamic working environment.
- The flexibility to learn and adapt to new cultures with good coaching and mentoring skills
- Demonstrates ability to think and act critically, creatively and independently
- Pro-active and committed individual who can work with minimum supervision
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft packages
- Registration with Teacher Service Commission (TSC).
- Experience in Competency Based Education (CBE) curriculum and International Cambridge curriculum
