ROLE OVERVIEW
- We are seeking a highly motivated Resident Consultant in Internal Medicine to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary clinical team at a growing tertiary healthcare institution. The successful candidate will provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient medical care while contributing to service development, clinical governance, and medical education. This role is ideal for a consultant physician who is passionate about clinical excellence, teamwork, and continuous professional development, and who wishes to actively participate in shaping and expanding internal medicine services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred medical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Participate in the development and expansion of internal medicine services, including new clinics and care pathways.
- Contribute actively to departmental and institutional quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance initiatives.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Support undergraduate and postgraduate medical education through teaching, supervision, and mentorship of interns and junior doctors.
- Participate in continuing professional development (CPD), clinical audits, and morbidity and mortality meetings.
- Take part in the on-call rota and provide timely specialist consultations as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine from a recognized university.
- Specialist registration and licensure with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Minimum of two (2) years post-MMed clinical experience in Internal Medicine.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and ethical medical practice.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Teaching or mentorship experience will be an added advantage.
- Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine from a recognized university
- Must be registered/licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
- Specialist Recognition by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists Council
- At least two years of post-graduate work experience
- Good public relations and communication skills
