Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, cook, and present meals according to the daily menu and established quality standards.
- Ensure proper portion control and food presentation at all times.
- Follow standardized recipes to maintain consistency across all dishes.
- Assist in planning menus, including special dietary needs when required.
- Ensure all food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils are clean and sanitized.
- Maintain high levels of kitchen hygiene in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and assist in inventory management.
- Properly store all food items to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
- Handle food and equipment safely to prevent accidents and maintain quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with portion controls, waste reduction guidelines, and kitchen SOPs.
- Work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Assist in training and guiding junior staff when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure timely meal service.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma or Degree in Food Production, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, or catering environment
- Strong understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety rules, and best practices
- Reliable, disciplined, and committed to quality and professionalism
- Excellent time-management and multitasking skills
Salary: Ksh. 20,000
