Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Analyse, evaluate, and present comprehensive information on food safety programs to ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and other applicable food safety standards, while driving continuous improvement across warehouse operations.
- Review technical warehouse procedures, identify gaps, and recommend practical solutions to management on quality control and food safety issues, ensuring adherence to regulatory and customer requirements.
- Establish and implement quality control processes for evaluating and receiving food consignments from customers, including inspection, documentation, and product integrity verification at intake.
- Establish, implement, and maintain the Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP) program for value-added products, ensuring consistent monitoring of critical control points and full compliance with food safety principles.
- Train and develop warehouse and operational staff on food safety protocols, hygiene standards, warehousing procedures, and proper product handling to ensure consistent compliance.
- Initiate and support cost-reduction strategies by identifying inefficiencies, rectifying errors, and improving process controls to enhance operational performance.
- Conduct routine inspections of all inbound goods to ensure compliance with quality specifications and verify the quality assurance of outbound goods before dispatch to prevent non-conformities.
- Fulfil responsibilities related to environmental and social sustainability programs by ensuring safe disposal practices, waste reduction, and compliance with sustainability guidelines.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety and water safety requirements related to warehouse operations, including monitoring hygiene, facility sanitation, pest control, and water quality where applicable.
- Actively engage in executing, monitoring, and reviewing Quality Control processes while recommending and implementing improvements for enhanced food safety and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate and manage third-party inspection activities, audits, and assessments as required by customers, regulatory bodies, or certifying agencies.
- Coordinate stock control operations with warehouse staff, finance teams, and customers to promote effective inventory management, prevent stock losses, and maintain accurate records.
Education, Professional Qualifications & Work experience
- Diploma in Food Science and Technology, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or related disciplines.
- Professional qualifications i.e. ISO 22000: Food Safety Management Systems certification; GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certification or Food Safety & Quality Management certification or Occupational Health and Safety certification.
- KCSE Minimum C (plain).
- At least 3 years’ continuous work experience in a Warehouse Environment.
