About the Young Professionals Program (YPP)

The AfDB Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a leadership development initiative designed to attract, develop, and retain highly qualified young Africans who are passionate about contributing to Africa’s growth.

The program offers structured training, mentoring, and rotational assignments across departments, preparing participants for future leadership roles within the Bank.

Duration: Typically 3 years (with 2 years of core development and 1 year of field assignment).

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be nationals of AfDB member countries.

• Be under 32 years of age at the time of application.

• Hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant field.

• Have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.

• Be fluent in English or French (and a working knowledge of the other language is an advantage).

• Demonstrate a passion for Africa’s development and strong leadership potential.
