Chloride Exide Kenya Limited (CEKL) was established in 1963, Chloride Exide Tanzania Limited (CETL) established in 1966 and Chloride Exide Uganda Limited (CEUL) established in 2001. Chloride Exide’s core business is the distribution of automotive batteries, solar systems installation, backup systems installation, and solar water heating systems installations. Chloride Exide has grown from a single based operation to being the largest battery and renewable energy distributor in the East African region while enjoying considerable presence in the COMESA trading block. Of particular pride is our strong brand supported by a region-wide network of over 18 branches and over 1500 dealers across the East African region.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, review and implement HR strategic plans that are aligned to and support the achievement of the company’s strategic goals, working with other functional heads to ensure consistency in people management, decision making and reporting.
  • Drive step change through people to achieve efficiencies in the entire employee lifecycle from talent identification and recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, workforce and succession planning, performance management and development and separation processes to position the organization as an employer of choice.
  • Develop, implement and communicate HR policies and procedures that reflect company standards and culture, train managers and supervisory staff on their application and revise them as necessary to ensure continued compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Monitor all HR and Admin activities and practices to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Keep track of and abreast of the legal environment regarding HR and Admin and ensure that the company complies and all senior staff are aware of these requirements.
  • Implement and/or support the company’s staff related change management initiatives and act as the internal Human Resources Consultant on various matters as may be required from time to time by functional heads.
  • Lead and provide strategic direction to the development of pay, reward, recognition and benefits strategies to ensure the adoption of the best practice and alignment with the strategic objectives of the company.
  • Develop HR and Admin budget and business plans to achieve the set company targets.
  • Proactively assess potential risk areas and provide mitigation measures and ensure compliance with company and regulatory bodies’ policies and procedures.
  • Institute staff engagement initiatives that should lead to shaping the desired workplace culture.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • CHRP-K certification or equivalent.
  • 8+ years’ progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in manufacturing, energy, or FMCG sectors is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws in East Africa and cross-bo
  • rder HR practices.
