Job Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced neonatal nurse to support a research project focused on newborn health. The nurse will be responsible for traveling to Lodwar to collect blood samples from a newborn patient, ensuring proper handling and transportation of the sample to Nairobi, and conducting a follow-up visit one month later. The role may require an overnight stay in Lodwar depending on logistics and patient availability. All travel and related expenses will be fully covered by the project sponsor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to Lodwar to visit the newborn patient at the designated location.
- Safely and ethically collect blood samples from the newborn, following clinical and research protocols.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of biological samples.
- Transport the sample to Nairobi using approved procedures to maintain sample integrity.
- Conduct a follow-up visit to the patient one month after the initial sample collection.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, patient interactions, and sample logistics.
- Communicate effectively with the research team and local healthcare providers.
- Adhere to all ethical, clinical, and safety standards throughout the assignment.
- Be available for an overnight stay in Lodwar if required, based on travel and patient scheduling.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with specialization or experience in neonatal care.
- Experience required: 5 or more years in Neonatal Care
- Valid nursing license in Kenya.
- Prior experience in clinical research or sample collection is an advantage.
- Ability to travel and work independently in remote settings.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Commitment to ethical standards and patient confidentiality.
