In East Africa today, most people are not on the grid but rely on kerosene for lighting and those on-grid often use kerosene due to low reliability of electricity. As more than 85% use biomass for cooking, East Africans suffer high cost of dirty fuels and toxic fumes that have negative impact on health, productivity, and the environment.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

° Green Churches Coordinator- North Rift Region Iten (On-site)- Reporting to Mwangaza HQ and the leadership of Green Churches Elgeyo Marakwet

° Project management: Lead planning, organizing, and executing all project deliverables, ensuring they are completed within the set timeframe.

° Partnership Development: Collaborate with local churches to integrate them into the Green Churches initiative.

° Policy Development: Develop environmental policies that align with each religious institution's mission and values and promote sustainable practices.

° Capacity Building: Train and empower religious leaders and members in environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

° Last Mile Distribution (LMD): Prepare for and implement Last mile distribution in collaboration with religious structures and the last mile distribution coordinator.

° Community Engagement: Facilitate community outreach and engagement activities to raise awareness and promote participation in Green Churches initiatives.

° Women Empowerment: Promote women's empowerment through the religious Structures.

Qualifications:

° Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Community Development, Project Management or related field.

° 5-10 years proven experience in community development and project management. Strong understanding of environmental issues and sustainable practices.

° Experience working within church structures and understanding of church dynamics.

° Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

° Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

° Passion for environmental conservation and community engagement.
