Key Responsibilities:
Head the laboratory quality management unit
Ensure the processes needed for QMS are established, implemented and maintained
Promote awareness of users’ needs and requirements throughout the laboratory and HIV research branch
Ensure compliance and conformance with requirements for applicable regulatory entities (e.g. ISO 15189, KENAS, GCLP/HSP)
Perform periodic laboratory internal audits and ensure departments perform timely follow up of audit findings
Prepare and present QMS and/or other related information to the stakeholders
Provide oversight and documentation of all laboratory trainings and competency assessments
Perform external audit and inspection preparations
Ensure procedure manuals and policies are written, updated and approved in a timely manner
Identify and address complaints, non-conformances and corrective actions
Schedule and organize management review meetings in consultation with the laboratory director
Prepare quarterly quality management system reports
Mentor, advise and provide technical support to fellow scientists, graduate students and interns
Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time by immediate supervisor.
Vacancy Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: -Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science or relevant scientific qualifications from a recognized institution Mandatory
Registration by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) or any registration body, if applicable, with a valid current practicing license, is an added advantage Added Advantage
ISO 19011 internal audit for medical laboratory officer training will be an added advantage Added Advantage
Training in analytical skills and use of at least one statistical software package, e.g. STATA, R, SPSS or SAS will be an added advantage Mandatory
Excellent team work and time management skills Mandatory
