Our client, a leading construction firm, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Site Supervisor. This is a supervisory role that involves overseeing and supervising employees working at the sites. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, meet quality standards, follow design specifications and industry standards, and are completed on time and within budget, minimizing losses and waste. 

 

Reports to: Site and Project Manager 

Supervises: Employees on Sight

 

Job Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Supervise and coordinate daily site activities including joinery, carpentry, and installations.

 

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for all employees.

 

Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.

 

Provide guidance and enforce safety procedures among the employees.

 

Directly supervise all Wood Products Kenya Limited employees on site.

 

Assign tasks and responsibilities to employees and ensure that they understand and follow project plans and specifications.

 

Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and quality of work.

 

Train new employees regarding safe work practices and our production techniques.

 

Ensure that production and installations adhere to project plans, design specifications, and industry standards.

 

Conduct inspections to verify the quality of work, materials, installations, and finishes.

 

Identify and resolve any issues or defects in a timely manner.

 

Collaborate with interior design project managers, architects, warehouse, production team and subcontractors to address quality related concerns and ensure timely resolution.

 

Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished products to the construction site.

 

Verify the accuracy and quality of materials and finished products received and report any discrepancies or issues.

 

Manage the storage and organization of materials and finished products onsite to prevent damage or loss.

 

Monitor and track material consumption to ensure efficient use and minimize waste.

 

Serve as the primary point of contact for all site activities, liaising with interior design project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

 

Communicate project progress, delays, and challenges to the project team.

 

Coordinate with other supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.

 

Resolve conflicts or disputes among team members and facilitate effective communication onsite.

 

Maintain accurate and updated records of site activities, including daily logs, inspection reports, and work progress.

 

Send the attendance list of workers on site daily before 9.00 a.m. without fail.

 

Send timely information of site updates or instructions of the project as required.

 

Provide hourly updates in the form of pictures and videos documenting the progress of daily work activities.

 

Prepare reports on material usage, labor productivity, and any incidents or accidents on the site.

 

Provide input for project progress reports and participate in project meetings as required

 

Other Requirements

 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KEY COMPETENCIES 

 

High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or vocational training in carpentry and joinery, wood or building construction.

 

Proven experience as a site supervisor or foreman for wood products related projects.

 

In-depth knowledge of wood product techniques, framing, and carpentry principles.

 

Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a construction site.

 

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively supervise and manage a team.

 

Ability to read and interpret interior design drawings and specifications related to different client needs.

 

Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.

 

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
