Our client, a leading construction firm, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Plant Maintenance Mechanical Technician, to ensure the effective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery within the wood products manufacturing plant to minimize downtime, ensure safe operations, and maintain production efficiency. 

 

Reports to: Maintenance Manager / Plant Engineer

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

 

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment (e.g., conveyors, saws, presses, dust extraction systems, etc.).

 

Diagnose mechanical faults and execute repairs to minimize machine downtime.

 

Maintain records of maintenance activities and equipment history.

 

Troubleshooting & Repairs

 

Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform emergency repairs in a timely manner.

 

Work with production teams to quickly resolve mechanical issues affecting output.

 

Installation & Commissioning

 

Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical machinery and equipment.

 

Ensure installations meet safety and operational standards.

 

Compliance & Safety

 

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with occupational safety and health standards.

 

Participate in safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

 

Continuous Improvement

 

Participate in plant reliability and process improvement initiatives.

 

Recommend and implement improvements to reduce equipment failure and energy consumption.

 

Documentation & Reporting

 

Maintain updated equipment logs, maintenance reports, and parts inventory.

 

Report any major breakdowns, risks, or anomalies to supervisors promptly.

 

Other Requirements

 

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.

 

3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or wood-processing plant.

 

Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is required.

 

Familiarity with woodworking machinery (presses, molders, saws, dryers, etc.) is a plus.

 

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and diagnostics.

 

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.

 

Skilled in welding, machining, and basic fabrication..

 

Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.

 

Ability to work independently and under pressure.

 

Good communication and teamwork skills.

 

Strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness.
