We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Director of Business Development to lead our growth efforts in Kenya. This role requires an up-and-coming leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on sales execution. The successful candidate must be both the best salesperson in the room and a builder of a high-performing team, ensuring sustained growth beyond their personal network.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership & Execution
- Own end-to-end B2B sales for the Power Financial Wellness platform in Kenya.
- Personally lead and close high-value enterprise deals with employers and SACCOs
- Consistently exceed sales targets and set the benchmark for the BD team.
- Team Management & Development
- Manage and mentor a team of Business Development Managers, including vertical leads for private companies, government payroll, Insurance and SACCO sales.
- Build a culture of accountability, coaching, and continuous improvement.
- Implement structured sales processes to ensure scalability beyond individual networks.
- Strategic Growth
- Drive market penetration across corporate and partner verticals.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new products and services, including employer-based financial wellness solutions and embedded finance offerings.
- Build strong relationships with C-level executives and decision-makers in target organizations.
- Sales Operations
- Oversee and optimize the use of CRM systems to manage the pipeline, track performance, and forecast revenue.
- Design and enforce data-driven sales reporting and KPIs.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to align sales strategy with brand messaging and solution development.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in B2B enterprise sales, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of closing large, complex deals in fintech, financial services, HR tech, or adjacent sectors.
- Strong professional network across corporates, SACCOs, banks, and insurers in Kenya and ideally across Africa.
- Deep understanding of the science of B2B sales: prospecting, consultative selling, objection handling, and deal structuring.
- Experience managing and scaling a sales team, including coaching and performance management.
- Comfortable with sales operations, pipeline management, and using CRM tools.
- Entrepreneurial mindset — dynamic, hungry, and able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
