Job Description

Job Purpose:

 

 To manage and coordinate content creation and publishing for the Agroecology Consumer Website and a policy-oriented Knowledge Hub. The officer will ensure both platforms serve as accessible, engaging, and evidence-based resources for consumers, policy actors, and learners. The role also includes support for project coordination, reporting, and liaison with partners.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Consumer Website Content Management

 

Support the Project Manager in the development and implementation of a consumer website management strategy and implementation plan for the consumer agroecology and organic website.

 

Create, edit, and publish content such as blogs, feature stories, videos, and infographics to promote consumer understanding of agroecology and organic products

 

Source content from agroecology practitioners, product marketers, and partner organizations.

 

Optimize content for SEO, accessibility, and engagement across various devices.

 

Track website analytics and adjust content strategies based on user interaction and trends.

 

Support the Project Manager in coordinating an established technical committee for content generation.

 

Link the consumer website with other ICT platforms managed by Biovision Africa Trust and Partners and especially the Digital Knowledge Hub for the Knowledge Centre for Organic and Agroecology Agriculture (KCOA) and Infonet-Biovision for Farmer Communication Programme.

 

Link the Consumer website with websites of BvAT and its project.

 

Knowledge Hub Content Management

 

Curate and structure a digital knowledge hub with accessible resources for county governments, policy stakeholders, and learners.

 

Organize documents including case studies, learning materials, policy briefs, toolkits, and guidelines.

 

Work with experts to simplify technical content into digestible formats for non-specialist audiences.

 

Ensure the knowledge hub is logically organized by theme and user type (e.g., policymakers, students, technical officers).

 

Promote the hub through digital outreach, learning events, and stakeholder networks.

 

Project Coordination and Administration

 

Support the Project Manager in the development and monitoring of the project work plan and deliverables.

 

Assist in drafting and editing progress reports, activity updates, and succes stories.

 

Document meetings, events, and learning activities.

 

Coordinate logistical support for digital and physical outreach events

 

Partner Liaison and Contracting Support

 

Assist in preparing and tracking contracts for consultants, contributors, and digital service providers.

 

Coordinate with implementing partners and content collaborators to ensure timely input and delivery.

 

Maintain records and documentation for contracts, deliverables, and partner communications.

 

Communication and Outreach Support

 

Develop and support development of quarterly newsletters for the Agroecology Promotion Programme (APP), social media content, and stakeholder communication materials.

 

Ensure consistent messaging across the consumer website and the policy knowledge hub.

 

Manage a digital content library (photos, visuals, branding assets).

 

Working Relationships:

 

Internal Relationships: Executive Director, Project Managers and other staff.

 

External Relationships: Country Implementing Partners of BvAT regional programmes, Consultants, Organic Agriculture member organisations, etc.

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Agriculture, Environmental Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.

 

At least 3 years of experience in content development for websites, website management, or digital knowledge platforms.

 

Experience working on projects involving public engagement, learning, or policy support.

 

Familiarity with agroecology, food systems, or sustainable agriculture is highly preffered.

 

Experience with content management systems (CMS), preferably WordPress.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

 

 Technical Skills

 

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across technical and non-technical content.

 

Ability to simplify and organize complex knowledge for diverse user groups

 

Proficiency in web publishing, SEO, basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite).

 

Behavioral Skills

 

Excellent coordination and time management skills

 

Strong interpersonal communication and stakeholder engagement experience.

 

Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

 

Responsibility for finances and physical assets:

 

The jobholder has accountability for the laptops and office assigned furniture

 

Decision making:

 

The jobholder has no final authority on key decisions in the project other than routine decisions related to execution of work.
