The key deliverable for the role is overseeing the entire accounting function, implementing financial policies, systems, and procedures, ensuring the company's financial health, regulatory and statutory compliance, and the integrity of finance operations.
Qualifications.
University Degree in Accounting or Finance
Full Professional Qualification in accountancy (CPA or ACCA)
Membership to relevant professional body such as ICPAK, ACCA
At least 8 years working experience in a financial institution (preferably an Insurance Company), 5 years in a similar or equivalent position.
Advance exposure and understanding of IFRS 17 reporting framework
Exposure and understanding of Insurance Regulatory & Reporting requirements
Key Roles:
Support the Finance Manager in developing financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals
Regulatory and Statutory Compliance
Supervise the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard assets
Prepare financial projections to assist in strategic planning and operational decisions
Manage and mentor accounting staff, fostering their performance and professional growth
Work closely with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and IT departments to align financial practices
Oversee Tax and Reinsurance accounting
Lead initiatives to enhance financial systems and processes
