Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Plan, prepare and oversee the implementation of components of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities related to Hygiene Promotion in consultation with the Officer WASH, ensuring quality programming.

 

Liaise with the line manager to undertake WASH construction activities supervision in Marsabit and Isiolo Counties

 

Liaise with the line manager to undertake community engagement together with the County Departments of Water, Environment and Natural Resources

 

Provide WASH promotion related training for relevant community and school hygiene facilitators and concerned community members related to measures to remain protected from WASH related disease and about the importance of properly using and maintaining WASH infrastructures for the community to remain safe and healthy.

 

Liaise with the line manager for representation in the WASH sector forums in Isiolo County

 

Liaises with the WASH officer to plan and implement WASH activities in the field.

 

Train project participants in community mobilization, hygiene promotion and health education.

 

Participate in field assessments to support the WASH & other teams for effective WASH implementation.

 

Prepare weekly work plan in accordance with the implementation plan.

 

Initiate requisitions for procurement of WASH materials, tools, IEC materials, equipment in a timely manner.

 

Other Duties

 

Adhere to and promote the standards outlined in the Concern Code of Conduct and associated policies to their team, beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment

 

Participating and contributing towards Concern’s emergency response, as and when necessary

 

Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies

 

Take all possible measure to meet Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS)

 

Any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager

 

Person Specification

 

Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:

 

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in water engineering, Environmental Health or a related field.

 

At least two years’ experience in a similar role

 

Must have a working knowledge of Project Cycle Management & Community WASH implementation

 

Demonstrated experience in implementing WASH projects in ASAL areas.

 

Fluency in spoken and written language in English and Swahili

 

Strong written and oral communication skills

 

Computer literate with good MS Office skills
