Job Description
The Senior Inventory Officer will oversee and manage inventory operations to ensure accurate stock levels, efficient material handling, and timely supply of construction materials and equipment. This role is critical in supporting project execution by maintaining optimal inventory control, improving storage processes, and coordinating with procurement and project teams to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to verify accuracy of stock quantities.
Procurement Coordination:
- Liaise closely with the procurement team to forecast material requirements based on project timelines.
- Ensure timely ordering and replenishment of materials and equipment.
- Verify the quality and quantity of received goods, reporting discrepancies promptly.
Warehouse Operations:
- Supervise warehouse activities, including material storage, handling, and distribution.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization and ensure safe storage practices.
- Implement and enforce safety guidelines within the storage facilities.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, stock levels, and material usage.
- Generate and submit regular inventory reports to management.
- Document all stock transactions in the inventory management system.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements for better inventory control and cost efficiency.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inventory processes.
- Introduce automation and digital solutions to streamline inventory tracking.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and guide warehouse personnel and site stores inventory staff.
- Allocate tasks and ensure the team meets performance targets and deadlines.
- Conduct training on inventory handling, safety, and compliance procedures.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Participate in health, safety, and environmental audits related to inventory operations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
- Proven experience with inventory management systems and warehouse operations.
- Experience in setting up an inventory function
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., ERP).
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes and material handling.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and reporting tools.
