Job Description
We are seeking to recruit a Crop Production Coordinator responsible for overseeing and managing agricultural production activities. This role focuses on the cultivation of oil crops for bio feedstock, especially in degraded areas unsuitable for food production, and will involve coordinating with farmers, managing sowing campaigns, post-harvest activities, and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and execution of agricultural production activities, focusing on oil crops for bio feedstock.
- Manage the preparation and organization of sowing campaigns and post-harvest activities for small and large-scale farmers.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental practices, policies, and procedures in all agricultural activities.
- Monitor and assess crop growth, recommending and implementing interventions as needed to optimize yield and quality.
- Conduct agricultural research trials and implement findings to improve crop productivity and sustainability.
- Coordinate with farmers and field teams to ensure proper crop management techniques, including fertilization, pest control, and irrigation.
- Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations and renewable energy standards related to biofuels and biomass.
- Maintain accurate records of crop production activities, including planting schedules, input usage, and harvest data.
- Utilize agricultural digital solutions, including GIS tracking and mapping systems, to enhance planning and monitoring efforts.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and annual reports on crop production progress to management.
- Lead and support the training of less experienced personnel and promote collaboration within the team.
- Act as a liaison with public entities, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering positive relationships.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences (specializations in Tropical Agronomy, Environment, and Bioenergy preferred).
- At least seven (7) years of experience in agro-industrial supply chains or farm management, preferably in the energy sector.
- Proven experience in managing agricultural activities with small and large-scale farmers, including sowing campaigns and post-harvest management.
- In-depth knowledge of oil crops for bio feedstock production, particularly in degraded areas.
- Experience in conducting agricultural research trials and implementing results.
- Proficiency in agricultural digital solutions, GIS systems, and agricultural regulations.
- Strong ability to work in a team and coordinate activities effectively.
- Full availability to work in Nairobi, Kenya, and willingness to travel for field missions.
- Fluency in English, with knowledge of Swahili or Italian being a plus.
