Gross Salary: 80-100k,

Our client is seeking to hire a Structural Design Engineer who will create designs and drawings and provide structural analysis for projects in the pipeline. The Engineer will coordinate with consulting engineers and architects. The Engineer will explore new methods and technology that further the value proposition. The Engineer will obtain compliance with Codes, and necessary certifications. They will also work with the QS.

  • Project Design. Create plans and simple architectural drawings for our routine and typical projects. The drawings will be professional in quality and expected to be shared with customers and media. Work with the QS to create accurate and efficient BQ’s for our designs. 
  • Structural Analysis. Perform structural design and analysis for all structures that we design and build. In highly complex or multi-story designs, the Engineer will work with consultants as required, both in the design and certification of our designs to ensure quality and Code compliance. 
  • Strategic Initiatives. Under the direction of others, explore improvements to our methods, new technologies, partner products and other means for continuous improvement of our products, construction and cost position. Collaborate on the adoption of new methods, and technologies into our designs and processes. 
  • Construction Methods. Support the construction team for incorporation of our blocks into East Africa construction. Provide support for the Construction Guide and ensure that the blocks are used most effectively and to their greatest. Ensure proper certification for our products (e.g. KEBS) and compliance with all Codes, standards, agencies permits and tests. Provide support for developing and creating the technical specifications for our products.
  • University Degree in Engineering 
  • At least 5 years of experience in the industry, including mechanical skills. Experience in the affordable housing sector and social enterprise is a plus. 
  • Engineering skill. Functional understanding of engineering design. Ability to create drawings in CAD environment. Ability to perform structural analysis and design. Ability to work with Design and Engineering service providers. 
  • Construction skill, experience, education and technical aptitude sufficient to provide support for ICF technology and applications. Strong problem-solving skills and finding creative solutions. 
  • Construction and Affordable Housing. Understanding of the affordable housing sector, both rural and urban, in Kenya. 
  • Solid communication skills. Proficient English and local languages, computer skills, ability to write and to create documents. 
  • Ability to travel. Some limited travel in the East Africa Region is required.

Gross Salary: 80k-100k
