Why does getting a legitimate remote role directly with a US, UK, or international company feel almost impossible…
while my feed is full of people saying “It was so easy”?
Because my last two years have looked nothing like that.
Application after application.
“Remote opportunities” that turn out to be scams.
Being asked — repeatedly — to send 1-minute intro videos, my CV, voice notes, and personal details… to complete strangers on the internet.
And lately, I’ll be honest — it’s considered a trusted professional platform, but it’s starting to feel like there are people waiting for vulnerable job seekers.
Waiting for those of us who are desperate enough for real work to keep sharing our information, our faces, our experience — with no guarantees and no accountability.
And here’s the part that really sits heavy with me:
Once my face and my personal CV are shared — where does that information go?
Who keeps it?
Who shares it?
How long does it sit on someone’s device, drive, or inbox?
In a world full of fraud and identity theft, how are we expected to feel okay with this level of exposure?
Especially when we’re applying to the same remote recruiters daily, sending the same personal material over and over, with no feedback, no transparency, and no idea what’s being done with it.
At some point it stops feeling like recruitment and starts feeling unsafe… and deeply demoralising.
Some days, I genuinely feel like I’m failing at something everyone else has figured out.
I’m tired.
Not lazy — tired.
Still trying — but questioning the system.
So here’s my honest ask:
If you’ve landed a real remote role and you’re willing to share what actually worked — or even pass along HR contacts or company names where CVs are genuinely reviewed — I would be incredibly grateful.
And if there are companies or hiring managers reading this who are open to giving someone a legitimate chance — I’m here, experienced, and ready to work.
And to anyone reading this thinking “this is exactly how I feel” — comment anything. Even a dot. Because this process can make you feel incredibly alone.
