If you want to retain top people, pay them what they’re worth from day one.
They don’t just bring skills — they bring stability, loyalty, and long-term value.

I’ve seen this play out too many times:
→ A candidate crushed their final interviews. Everyone was impressed. They were confident an offer was coming. But the hiring manager chose someone else.
→ Another candidate nailed an interview with a dream job. They were so sure it was a done deal, they barely prepared for their other interviews with other companies. Then? That company changed direction on the role entirely.
Both were left starting over. Frustrated. Discouraged. Stalled.
A great interview doesn’t guarantee a job.
Strong performance doesn’t always equal a yes.
And more often, decisions have nothing to do with you.
The search isn’t over until the paperwork is signed.
So keep applying.
Keep networking.
Keep moving forward.
Hope for the best.
But stay active until it’s official. less

Please stop — and read this carefully.
Many job seekers are unknowingly falling into the trap of paying money to secure job offers.
But here's the truth:
🔹 It is completely illegal in the UAE for any person or recruitment agency to charge you a fee to get a job.
🔹 Under UAE Labour Law, employers are responsible for all recruitment-related costs — not the job seeker.
👉 If someone asks you for payment in exchange for a job offer, visa, or interview — it’s a scam.
👉 You can report such cases to MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation).

It is even tougher to get an interview call.
The reality is - You might be a great candidate. But, there is someone out there who:
1. Knows the recruiter.
2. Or has somebody who can vouch for them
3. Or has prior manager/colleague giving information on "EXACTLY" what the company is looking for.
When you apply on LinkedIn or Naukri - You can't compete with these candidates. Because, the organizations "Trust" referrals/warm intros more than hiring a candidate through online job portal.
- Even if you are the SMARTEST guy, you can't do much about it!
That is where:
1. College alumni network comes into picture.
2. Your prior colleagues come into picture.
3. Your parents network / your friends network / your extended family's network - everything becomes important when you are desperate!
If you really want to grow & have a long career
- Don't underestimate ANYBODY. Even your juniors or freshers on your team.
- If you don't have time for nice talk, don't talk! But, don't belittle others.
- Folks don't forget how you make them feel!
Be humble & help others.
This is the reality! There is NO OTHER WAY to grow in your career!

Every fake opening you post costs someone hours of preparing a CV, writing a cover letter, and building hope — only to have it crushed.
Job seekers aren’t statistics. They’re human beings investing real effort for a chance that never existed.
Be transparent. If it’s an internal hire, say so. If the role is already filled, don’t post it. Trust in hiring is built on honesty, not false advertisements.

And you wait.
And wait.
Silence.
Here’s why.
In United Arab Emirates, 90% of job seekers make these mistakes:
➤ Generic CV – One CV for all jobs = no callbacks.
➤ Wrong keywords – Your CV doesn’t match the job description wording.
➤ No format – Recruiters scan CVs in 6–8 seconds. Wrong layout = skipped.
➤ Applying to expired roles – Many listings stay up after hiring.
➤ No follow-up – You apply once and disappear.
➤ Not networking – a relationship can be stronger than online applications.
In United Arab Emirates, the market is busy.
The pile is high.
The recruiter’s time is short.
If your CV doesn’t speak their language,
It doesn’t speak at all.
It’s not about applying more.
It’s about applying smarter.

If you're new to the UAE and currently exploring job opportunities, here’s a sincere piece of advice based on personal experience living here:
One of the key challenges many newcomers face is that work experience from their home country is often not fully recognized or valued in the local market. In the UAE, local experience and familiarity with the business culture are highly regarded by employers.
You might be wondering: "How can I gain local experience if no one is willing to hire someone new to the country?"
This is the real challenge. To overcome it, you may need to accept roles that are initially below your qualifications or salary expectations. It may not be ideal, but it’s a strategic entry point. Once you gain UAE experience, even in a supporting or junior role, your profile will become significantly more competitive.
Getting involved in the local work environment, understanding the culture, and building a professional network will open doors for better opportunities in the future. Being flexible and persistent during your initial phase is essential.
It’s just a humble tip 😊

Job hunting right now is tough. Really tough. In the past few weeks, I’ve applied for role after role. Dozens of applications sent, tailored resumes and cover letters written and yet, I’ve secured a few interviews but no score.
Job hunting right now is tough. Really tough. In the past few weeks, I’ve applied for role after role. Dozens of applications sent, tailored resumes and cover letters written and yet, I’ve secured a few interviews but no score.
Then it’s the “better aligned” line although it’s the literal job I’m doing or was just doing. A few just ghost me because what do I really matter after pouring my heart out and showing the ultimate vulnerability to a stranger…
Most applications get no response at all. Others end in an instant auto-decline, without so much as a phone call or a chance to have a conversation about my skills and experience.
It’s hard not to feel deflated. You start to question yourself, even when you know you have the capability and track record to add real value.
I know I’m not the only one feeling this. Job seeking in the current market is more competitive than ever, and it can take a real toll on your confidence.
For anyone else in the same boat — keep going.
And if you’re a hiring manager or recruiter reading this, I implore you to remember the human side of the process. A simple conversation can go a long way.
