Withings Body Scan 2 Brings Advanced Health Tracking Home
Health-conscious tech fans often wonder how far smart scales can go. Withings’ latest Body Scan 2 promises to deliver an answer. Launching at CES 2026 for $599.95, this new scale goes beyond weight tracking, offering a 90-second “longevity assessment” that evaluates more than 60 health biomarkers. Its focus on cardiovascular and metabolic health sets it apart from typical smart scales.
Upper-Body Data Elevates Accuracy
Unlike standard scales that rely solely on foot electrodes, the Body Scan 2 adds a retractable handle with four extra electrodes. This design captures upper-body data, improving overall measurement accuracy. Combined with the eight foot electrodes, the scale can now assess total body composition with more precision. Withings’ approach highlights a trend toward more comprehensive daily health monitoring at home.
Longevity Assessment: 60+ Biomarkers in One Scan
The Body Scan 2 doesn’t just measure weight or heart rate. Its longevity assessment evaluates roughly five health categories: heart pumping performance and electrical activity, hypertension risk, artery health, cellular and metabolic efficiency, and glycemic regulation. The system then translates this complex data into an easy-to-understand Health Trajectory score, helping users track their healthspan—the expected years of healthy life.
Noninvasive Metabolic Tracking Through Bioimpedance
Withings has found a unique way to monitor metabolic health without blood tests. The scale uses bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) and even foot sweat to assess gland activity. “We stimulate the sweat glands inside your feet with a safe, tiny current,” explains Antoine Joussain, Withings’ director of product management. “High activity generally indicates healthy glands, while low activity may signal issues, like diabetes-related complications.”
Simplifying Daily Health Insights
Tracking 60 biomarkers can be overwhelming, but Withings keeps it user-friendly. The Health Trajectory score offers daily, weekly, and monthly overviews. Users can dive deeper into individual metrics, but the system handles interpretation automatically. This balance of detail and simplicity aligns with current consumer demand for actionable, noninvasive health insights.
Competition in Smart Health Monitoring
Withings isn’t alone in this space. Whoop’s 5.0 tracker and Oura Ring have introduced similar aging and cardiovascular metrics. What sets Body Scan 2 apart is its noninvasive, all-in-one approach, combining upper-body bioelectrical readings with metabolic data, all without needles or lab visits. It’s an evolution of smart health tech toward predictive and preventive care at home.
Availability and Outlook
The Body Scan 2 is expected to hit the market in Q2 2026, pending FDA clearance for some measurements. Withings positions it as a “longevity station,” signaling the company’s vision for future smart scales. As consumers increasingly seek personalized, data-driven health insights, devices like Body Scan 2 could redefine how we monitor wellness at home.
