Former Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha's caravan will pass through the institutions he has worked for, left an impact and was part of during his career journey.
While speaking to the media, former Basic Education and Early Learning Principal Secretary and spokesperson of the funeral committee Julius Jwan said the caravan will go through places that defined the adult life of Magoha.
"The caravan will go through KNH, Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), KNEC, St Georges Primary, State House Girls, University of Nairobi and Starehe Centre," Jwan said.
Notably, these are the institutions that Magoha worked with and for, studied and for obvious reasons, left an impact.
The late CS will be taken to Starehe Boys Centre as that's where he undertook his secondary school Education. He joined the school in 1967.
Magoha was a trained medical practitioner from the University of Lagos in Nigeria and furthered his studies in Surgery and Urology at Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
He will be taken to the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists Dentists Council building as he was a member of the council.
At the University of Nairobi, Magoha joined the institution as a Lecturer in Urological Surgery in 1988 and later became a full Professor of Surgery in 2000.
Throughout his career as a Surgeon, Magoha served at the Kenya National Hospital as a consultant.
While at the University of Nairobi, he served as Chairman of the Academic Department of Surgery in 1999, Dean of the School of Medicine, Principal of the College of Health Sciences, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Administration and Finance.
In 2005, Magoha was appointed the varsity's Vice-Chancellor in January.
At the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Magoha was appointed the chairman of the council in 2016 before leaving to serve in Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration as Cabinet Secretary.
The family says his caravan will also pass through St Georges Primary and State House Girls to symbolise the impact he had made in the education sector during his tenure.
Magoha passed on January 24, 2023, after suffering a cardiac arrest.
He collapsed at home before he was rushed to Nairobi hospital, where he was announced dead.
He will be laid to rest on February 11 at his rural home in Siaya County.
