The National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) is a State Corporation established under the NDMA Act, 2016. The Authority is mandated to oversee and coordinate all matters related to drought risk management and establish mechanisms, in collaboration with stakeholders, to end drought emergencies in Kenya.

Job Descriptions
Director Resilience (NDMA 2)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership in the development, coordination, and implementation of resilience-building strategies and programs.
Develop policies and frameworks aimed at improving drought preparedness and mitigation.
Coordinate partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations to enhance resilience initiatives.
Oversee capacity-building programs to improve drought risk management at national and county levels.
Monitor and evaluate resilience programs to ensure alignment with national and international standards.
Prepare periodic reports on resilience activities and advise the Authority on best practices and emerging trends.
Director Research Data and Informatics (NDMA 2)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the formulation and implementation of research and data management strategies for drought risk management.
Oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of drought-related data to inform policy decisions.
Develop frameworks for the application of modern technologies in drought early warning systems.
Collaborate with research institutions to advance scientific studies on drought risk reduction.
Provide oversight on data governance and ensure adherence to national and international data standards.
Prepare and present reports on research findings and recommendations to the Authority.
Assistant Director, Human Resource & Administration (NDMA 4)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement human resource policies and procedures in line with relevant regulations.
Oversee recruitment, selection, placement, and retention of employees.
Manage staff performance and career development through training and mentorship programs.
Ensure proper administration of employee benefits and welfare programs.
Maintain accurate human resource records and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
Supervise administrative services, including office management, procurement, and general support services.
Advise the Authority on best practices in human resource management.
Implement drought preparedness, response, and recovery programs at county levels.
Collect and analyze drought-related data for early warning and decision-making.
Facilitate coordination between government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community-based organizations in drought management initiatives.
Conduct awareness and capacity-building programs on drought risk reduction at the community level.
Prepare reports on drought situations and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Assist in the formulation and review of county drought contingency plans.
