Google Fi Voicemail on iPhone Now Available in the Native Phone App
If you're an iPhone user on Google Fi, accessing your voicemails is about to get easier. Google Fi is officially moving all voicemail access to the iPhone’s built-in Phone app, eliminating the need to check voicemails through the separate Google Fi iOS app. This change started rolling out on June 25 and will be completed by July 2, offering a more seamless experience for iPhone users on the Fi network.
Goodbye to Google Fi App Voicemail for iPhone
Previously, voicemails for iPhone users on Google Fi were handled within a separate tab in the Fi app. But Google is phasing out that setup. By August 13, voicemail functionality will be completely removed from the iOS Google Fi app. Users who wish to preserve any old messages must download them via Google Takeout before that date. Afterward, those voicemails will be deleted and no longer accessible from the app.
Voicemails in iPhone's Phone App—How It Works
While some iPhone users may have already noticed voicemails showing up in their Phone app, this used to depend on a few conditions—like having Live Voicemail enabled, being in a Fi coverage area, and having the phone powered on. Now, thanks to this update, all voicemails will consistently appear in the Phone app for all iPhone users on Google Fi, without needing any specific settings or requirements.
Google Fi Improvements: What Else Is New
This voicemail update is part of a broader effort by Google to streamline its services for iOS users. Back in April, Google teased this change and also introduced a new Google Fi Unlimited Essentials plan, priced at $35 per month, making the service more budget-friendly. These updates show Google's commitment to enhancing the Fi experience, especially for iPhone users who previously faced app-based limitations.
