Electric truck owners often worry about range when towing heavy loads, but a new solution may change that. The California-based company Evotrex has unveiled the Evotrex-PG5, a next-generation RV designed to not only support off-grid living but also recharge your electric truck while on the move. Combining multiple power sources, the PG5 promises unprecedented energy autonomy for long road trips.
At the heart of the PG5 is Evotrex’s unified energy system, which integrates a 43kWh lithium-phosphate (LFP) battery, a 1.5kW solar array, and an efficient gas-powered generator called Horizon. Together, these systems can produce more than 270kWh of usable energy per cycle. This combination allows adventurers to tow, camp, and recharge without relying solely on traditional charging stations, giving freedom to explore remote locations.
The PG5 is designed to actively support your electric truck during travel. Its regenerative charging system recaptures energy while towing, while the Horizon generator ensures continuous power supply even in low-sunlight conditions. Beyond towing, the RV supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) power export, allowing users to run campsite tools, cooking appliances, and electronic gear directly from the trailer’s onboard energy system.
Once your towing duties are done, the PG5 can serve as a mobile charging hub. The RV offers AC charging at 6.6kW and DC charging up to 60kW, compatible with the Tesla-NACS standard. This capability essentially turns your RV into a range extender, letting your truck travel further without stopping for traditional charging. For off-grid enthusiasts, it’s also possible to power a home or temporary campsite during emergencies, making the PG5 more than just a recreational vehicle.
Managing multiple power sources can be overwhelming, so Evotrex provides a Power Calculator. This tool helps users monitor energy consumption and forecast needs based on environmental conditions and travel plans. By offering precise control, the PG5 ensures efficiency while minimizing the risk of running out of power during extended trips.
With the Evotrex-PG5, the company is redefining what it means to tow electric vehicles. By combining solar energy, regenerative towing, and gas-powered range extension, this RV delivers a flexible and powerful off-grid experience. For electric truck owners seeking independence and reliability, the PG5 may soon become an essential companion on every adventure.
