Amazon’s collection of 4K-capable streaming devices just got bigger — and more confusing. The newly announced Fire TV Stick 4K Select, priced at $39.99 and launching on October 15th, joins the existing Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
At first glance, their names might seem straightforward. But their pricing and features tell a different story. The 4K Select costs the same as the 4K Max, while the regular Fire TV Stick 4K is currently selling for just $24.99.
Why The Name Change Matters
Despite its lower price, the Fire TV Stick 4K still stands out as the superior option. It supports Wi-Fi 6, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, and includes more memory than the Select model. To make things simpler for consumers, Amazon plans to give the device a clearer, more distinctive name.
Amazon spokesperson Zack Brown confirmed to The Verge that the company will “introduce a new name for the Fire TV Stick 4K in the coming weeks to help customers differentiate between the two.”
What Could The New Name Be?
Amazon hasn’t revealed the new title yet, but it’s sparking plenty of guesses. Could it be Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, 4K Pro, or even 4K Alexa Edition? Whatever it is, the update aims to bring clarity to a product family that’s become surprisingly tricky to navigate.
