Do Not Just Send Your CV

When applying for a job through email, your CV is not the first thing the recruiter sees. Your email is. That short message is already speaking on your behalf before your CV is opened.

Attaching a CV with no explanation is a missed opportunity.
Your email should be simple, clear, and professional. Think of it as your first handshake.

Here is a clean and effective way to structure it.

Subject: Application for the [Job Title] Position

    Hello [Hiring Manager’s Name],
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to express my interest in the [Job Title] position that was recently advertised. Kindly find my CV attached for your consideration.
I believe my skills and experience align well with the role, and I would appreciate the opportunity to contribute to your team.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
    Kind regards,
    [Your Full Name]
    [Your Phone Number]
    [Your Email Address]

    A few important reminders
Always send your CV as a PDF, never as a photo or screenshot.
Double check spelling and grammar before sending.
Keep the message short, respectful, and straight to the point.

Use a clear subject line that mentions the role you are applying for.
Small details like these can make a big difference.

Repost, share and comment. It might help someone. Thanks

    For some, it’s not 15. It’s 50.
    For others, it’s even 100.

That’s the reality of job hunting. competition is fierce and openings attract hundreds of applicants.

    Rejections are tough.

They drain you, dishearten you, and sometimes make you question your worth.

    But here’s the truth:

You don’t need every company to say yes, you just need ONE.

    • Every rejection builds resilience. It’s not failure; it’s preparation.

    • Every interview teaches you something about the process, the role, or yourself.

    • Every application gets you closer to the right opportunity.

It’s hard to stay motivated, especially when others are celebrating their offers. But your time will come.

Hiring for Potential Hiring for Perfect Résumés

Here's a truth most hiring teams won't say out loud:

The candidate who checks every box isn't always the best hire.
The candidate who checks none of them sometimes becomes your best one.

Every day, companies post job descriptions that read like a wish list — 5+ years for entry-level roles, a dozen "must-haves" for mid-level pay, and zero room for people who simply haven't had the right door opened yet.

Then those same companies say they can't find great talent.

The talent is there. The mindset is the problem.

Because here's what you can teach:
    → Tools and software
    → Systems and processes
    → Industry knowledge
    → Technical skills

Here's what you almost certainly cannot:
    → Work ethic
    → Genuine curiosity
→ The ability to own a problem
→ Resilience when things go wrong
→ The drive to figure it out — no matter what

Some of the most impactful people in any organization were once the "unqualified" candidate sitting in a waiting room, hoping someone would look past the gaps on their résumé and see who they could become.

They just needed one person to take a chance.

If you lead a team or influence hiring decisions — I'd challenge you to rethink what "qualified" actually means.

Look for hunger. Look for adaptability. Look for character.

The polished résumé tells you where someone has been.
Potential tells you where they'll take your company.

What's your take — are we filtering out the wrong people?

HR: He said the offer was 20% below the market rate.

CEO: He was out of work and can't dictate terms.

    HR: That's true.

CEO: Then why did he accept the offer only to resign days later?

HR: He accepted the offer but already had another interview lined up. A week later, he called to say he'd accepted a different offer that matched his worth.

CEO: That is unprofessional and unacceptable.

HR: The only option we have is to readvertise the position.

CEO: No, I'll match their offer.

HR: It's too late. The damage is already done.

    CEO: Why?

    HR: He's already working.

CEO: We offered him a job when he had been laid off, and his gratitude is to resign and go where he's paid more? Very unprofessional still.

HR: We took advantage of him because he was laid off and unemployed and offered him below market rate. This is also unprofessional and unacceptable

CEO: So what are you saying?

HR: Don't exploit a candidate's situation. It never ends well.

    He replied:

"What opportunities are available for growth in this role?"

    I smiled.

    Why?

Because even at the beginning of his career, he wasn't just thinking about getting a job or earning a big salary.

    He was thinking long-term.

He was looking for a place to learn, grow, and build a career.

Sometimes, the questions candidates ask tell you more about them than their answers ever will.

This is a reminder for you. If you are starting your career, ask questions that show interest in the job and willingness to grow long-term.  less

STOP NEGOTIATING SALARIES WITH CANDIDATES WHEN YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A BUDGET.

Yesterday, I offered a candidate 40% raise over his last salary after a year's gap.

When I asked about his expectations, he mentioned he would be okay with the same salary as his last one, as he had been out of work for a year due to health reasons.

I didn’t say anything at that moment because I knew we had a budget to offer him a raise if he got selected.

Fast forward: he cleared all interviews, and I offered him. He almost had tears in his eyes and shared that many told him he shouldn’t expect a hike after a career gap.

Please don't take advantage of someone's vulnerable situation.🙏
Please don't undervalue candidates just because they need a job. 🙏  less

🚨 YOUR CV IS NOT GETTING REJECTED... IT'S GETTING IGNORED.
Most job seekers spend hours applying to jobs but only minutes on their CV.

    The harsh reality?
❌ Recruiters spend just a few seconds scanning a CV.
❌ Generic resumes rarely make it to the interview stage.
❌ One small mistake can cost you a life-changing opportunity.

Before you hit "Apply" on your next job application, ask yourself:
👉 Does your CV clearly showcase your value?
    👉 Is it ATS-friendly?
👉 Does it highlight achievements instead of responsibilities?
👉 Would YOU hire yourself after reading it?

📄 Not sure if your CV is interview-ready?

Drop "CV" in the comments, and I will share practical tips to help you improve your resume and increase your chances of getting shortlisted.  less

I once had a candidate list 'proficient in Microsoft Office' as their only skill. That's like saying 'I can breathe.' Your CV should shout what sets you apart, not what everyone else has.

Struggling to get callbacks? Your CV might be missing one key thing: results, not just duties. Instead of 'Responsible for sales,' say 'Increased sales by 30% in six months.' Recruiters love numbers. They prove impact.

I've reviewed hundreds of CVs this month, and the biggest mistake? Using a one-size-fits-all template. Tailor your CV to the job description. Highlight the skills and experience that match. It makes a world of difference.
